Listen, we respect this. That's it. We just do. It may seem like a lot to people who don't have cats and who don't understand just how particular cats can be, but it's not. It's necessary. I've had people come cat-sit who've my cat but know relatively nothing about her. How are these people supposed to know that she hates having the area near her tail touched? Especially when cats generally love to have that area scratched and loved on? And I've had my sister cat-sit for me too. She grew up with my cat - when we were all still living with my parents. She's supposed to know her, everything about her. But no. Because of course not. Because cats change, and cats have silly needs, and even for my sister, who really does know Mia very well, I had a whole list of instructions attached to the refrigerator. Because yes, it may be silly, but this is what good cat owners do.

Hey, it's like we always say: man plans and the CDS laughs. Cats don't ask us for permission before appearing in our lives. And we're not the ones who adopt them. They adopt us, and we live with the consequences. Just because you didn't think you needed two more cats doesn't mean that the CDS agreed with you. And clearly, it didn't. And look at you now, writing page-long expalantions about your felines to your cat sitter, with all the details and love they need.
